Anne Sophie Mutter on the Festival's stage in Salzburg after 30 years - 5 stars Concerts, 1st of February, 2016

Friday, 29 January 2016 , ora 9.03

Anne-Sophie Mutter, Riccardo Muti and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra are three iconic names of the musical world that were on the stage of the Festival's Grand Hall in Salzburgat the concert on 14th of August, 2015. This is a truly 5 stars Concert.

It was a musical show in D major composed of the Violin and Orchestra Concerto in D major, Op. 35 by Piotr Ilici Tchaikovsky and the Symphony No. 2, Op. 73 by Johannes Brahms in the same key. In fact, it was a D-gala tribute to the legendary Herbert von Karajan. The tribute was minutely prepared even in what means the choice of the concert's date; 14th of August was traditionally reserved by Karajan for directing the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra at the Festival in Salzburg. For Anne-Sophie Mutter, the concert represented a more special meaning. Exactly 30 years ago, in the same hall with the same Orchestra, conducted those days by Herbert von Karajan, the violinist was interpreting the Concerto of Tchaikovsky for the first time. I wonder how many of those people that were present at that memorable concert were also on 14th of August, last year. Probably there were few of them. Our advantage is that we can compare thisinterpretation with the CD record that appeared in 1988, obviously with Herbert von Karajan at the conductor's desk. To have a more complete view of what the Violin Concerto by Tchaikovsky in the interpretation of Anne-Sophie Mutter means, I could also add the CD record in 2004 under the stick of Sir Andre Previn. Beyond comparisons I can say that Anne-Sophie Mutter has created a special emotion on the Festival's stage in Salzburg together with Riccardo Muti at the desk of Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in one of her best interpretations. The press said that Anne-Sophie Mutter together with his Italian conductor has reached a height of his career. It is possible, but I would like to think that the violinist being at the complete artistic maturity will reach many others Everests.

The second part of this D-gala on 14th of August, 2015, belonged entirely to the conductor Riccardo Muti, a remarkable personality of the conductors' stick of the last 20 years and of Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. The second D major of the poster was Symphony No. 2, Op. 73 by Johannes Brahms, a piece of work that identifies with the history of Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra if we take into account the fact that under Hans Richter's stick this orchestra interpreted on first audition the piece of work in 1877.

The Muti's interpretation was as chronicles say a triumph of the key's beauty. The fact is that the Orchestra had a wonderful sound. It had a perfect balance and emotional colors of sounds. The perfect harmony of the wind instruments, the moments of anti-gravity of the clear glassy sounds plaited with the passionate ones that were full of strength and sensuality determined the audience to applaud the artists long minutes, standing up.

An atmosphere that I hope you will enjoy on Monday, 1st of February at 3:30 p.m. on Radio Romania Muzical, in the 5 stars Concerts' flow.
