On 6^th March, starting at 12:00 p.m., the tickets for the 'George Enescu' International Festival 2019 (31^st August - 22^nd September, Bucharest), will be on sale. There will be five major ticket categories (including seniors), with prices ranging from 30 RON to 210 RON.

Music enthusiasts will be able to select from the 84 concerts divided into five series: "Big Orchestras of the World", "Chamber Recitals and Concerts", which also includes the "Enescu and His Contemporaries" section, "Midnight Concerts" and "21^st Century Music". There will also be special events, such as the "Mozart Week in Residence" and the "International Composers' Forum".

The tickets for the 2019 'George Enescu' Festival will be available online via www.eventim.ro, and in the Eventim shops (Telekom, Orange, Vodafone, Diverta, Humanitas and Cartureşti Bookstores, Carrefour and OMV petrol stations) and at the Eventim points of sale in Bucharest (Cinema PRO, I. C. Brătianu Blvd.) and in Cluj-Napoca (Alexandru Vaida-Voevod Street, No. 53 B, in Iulius Mall) and at the UPC pay offices in Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca.

Some of the seats for this edition have been reserved for the seasonal tickets. A total of 1,870 seasonal tickets were sold at the end of last year's lottery, accounting for about a third of the total seats in the Festival. Approximately 20% of all available seats were put up for sale in international travel agency packages, while 10% is reserved for the invited artists, partners and officials. There are about 33,000 individual tickets put up for sale starting on 6^th March.

The 2019 edition of the 'George Enescu' International Festival: diverse experiences, high calibre artists and the latest trends in music

The 2019 edition of the 'George Enescu' International Festival was designed to be an event that includes the current trends in the international cultural space, exploring not only the lyrical and theatrical aspects, but also the accents of contemporary music.

Famous works will be performed in Bucharest for the first time; music lovers will have access not only to high-profile, big-scale concerts, but also to more personalised listening experiences interpreted in chamber recitals and peformances. The audience will also be connected to the trends of contemporary music in the international cultural space through dialogues between musicians and composers.

Depending on their preferences, festivalgoers will be able to choose from a selection of new and special performances by listening to new compositions or opting for classical or modern concerts interpreted in a modern style, such as the operas in concert series.

From the Great World Orchestras category, the following orchestras will perform at the 2019 edition of the 'George Enescu' International Festival: Berliner Philharmoniker, London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Orchestre National de France, the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia, the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Saint Petersburg Symphony Orchestra. Remarkable conductors, such as Kirill Petrenko, Mariss Jansons and Vladimir Jurowski, and both highly acclaimed and highly rated soloists, such as Diana Damrau, Marlis Petersen, Joyce DiDonato and Yuja Wang, will take the stage of the Festival.

Regarding the repertoire, this edition includes more operas in concert. A total of 14 works will be performed, including the following ones, which will be debuting at the festival: Die Frau Ohne Schatten by Strauss, performed by the Berlin Radio Orchestra, Moses and Aaron by Schoenberg, interpreted by the 'George Enescu' Philharmonic, and Peter Grimes by Britten, presented by the National Radio Orchestra.

Another premiere taking place at the festival is George Enescu's Symphony No. 3, interpreted by two orchestras: the Maggio Fiorentino Orchestra and the Berlin Radio Orchestra. During the Festival, a total of 32 works by George Enescu will be performed.

Another notable moment will be the Mozart Week in Residence - a programme brought directly from Salzburg that condenses, beyond performances and conferences, the details of Mozart's life events; also on this occasion there will be exhibited the violin on which Mozart played.

The "Music of the 21st Century" category will bring to the forefront well-known composers such as Unsuk Chin, Fedele, Widmann and Penderecki, whose works are performed by the greatest orchestras in the world.

Some of the most notable representatives of Romanian music are conductors Horia Andreescu, Cristian Mandeal and Christian Badea. In addition, Gabriel Bebeşelea, Tiberiu Soare, Vlad Vizireanu and Cristian Lupeş will conduct Romanian and foreign orchestras participating in the Festival. The most important Romanian orchestras will also be present, namely, the 'George Enescu' Philharmonic Orchestra, the Radio Orchestra, the Romanian Youth Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestras of Iasi, Sibiu, Timisoara, Cluj, Bacau and Targu Mures. The famous conductor, Ion Marin, will again take the stage of the 'George Enescu' International Festival, as will pianist Alexandra Dariescu and mezzo-soprano Ruxandra Donose, while pianist Alexandra Silocea will be present for the first time. The laureates of the 2018 edition of the 'George Enescu' International Music Competition will hold concerts as part of the "Music of the 21st Century" series.

On the whole, the 2019 edition of the 'George Enescu' International Festival brings together over 2500 of the world's most valuable music personalities for 23 days, in a total of 34 premieres, in the presence of 25 great artists including Marion Cotillard, Kiril Petrenko, Mitsuko Uchida, Rene Jacobs, Diana Damrau, Joyce DiDonato, Rolando Villazón, Julia Fischer and Nobuyuki Tsujii and nine of the world's most important orchestras.
