Interview with soprano Cristina Păsăroiu

Monday, 29 January 2024 , ora 11.21

Soprano Cristina Păsăroiu will perform on the Radio Hall stage as part of a Gala event that will take place on Friday, January 26th, 2024. In a dialogue with Sarah Natsis, the artist offers more details about the event, as well as the collaboration with the Radio România ensembles:

Mrs. Cristina Păsăroiu, on Friday you will take part in the first Opera Gala taking place at the Radio Hall this year. What are your thoughts about this event?

I am happy to be home again after some time away, together with maestro David Crescenzi, following our last project for the National Opera in Bucharest that took place two years ago through Traviata. I am happy to make music again with him and especially with such a rich and colorful repertoire.

You will perform with two of the radio ensembles: Radio Academic Choir and National Radio Orchestra. What can you tell us about this collaboration?

They are exceptional musicians, with a spirit that I've missed very much while I was away - a Latin spirit that characterizes the sound - as much as I've missed how they sound and make music together. I am extremely happy.

Tell us about the evening's musical repertoire. How did you choose the works included in it?

I always choose what is most difficult. I'm an expert in choosing a difficult repertoire. I wanted to choose a repertoire that would show possibilities and that would start with belcanto and go all the way to the French repertoire, then Puccini, which makes me feel at home, as well as one which I've never presented so far, such as Andrea Chénier, La mamma morta. It will be a premiere. Butterfly will follow shortly, and we will end with a waltz through Les Gilles de Cadiz.
