Interview with Diana Moș, rector of the National University of Music in Bucharest

Monday, 8 April 2024 , ora 10.03

The 15th edition of the CHEI Festival, organized by the National University of Music in Bucharest, will take place in Bucharest from April 6th to April 12th. We will learn more about the events featured in the series and the invited artists from Diana Moș, rector of the National University of Music in Bucharest, as revealed during her interview with Sarah Natsis:

Mrs. Diana Moș, we could say that the 15th edition of the CHEI Festival is a special one as it unfolds in the year when the National University of Music Bucharest celebrates its 160th anniversary. What will the festival bring new compared to previous editions?

We try to keep up with the times while also continuing the tradition this institution has upheld for over a century and a half. This year's CHEI Festival aims to cater to all tastes.

We kick off the festival with the opening concert conducted by one of the most renowned masters of conducting-Leo Hussain. We will hold the opening at the Romanian Athenaeum. Two days later, on Monday, there will be another concert conducted by a master whom we not only hold in high regard for his prowess but also deeply cherish-I'm referring to conductor Tiberiu Soare. In addition, we cover a wide stylistic range, from the ensemble Orchestra de Barockeri, who will perform on the stage of the Conservatory in the "George Enescu" Hall, to a concert of Byzantine music, namely the Psalmodia concert slated for Thursday. We've also prepared choral concerts, chamber music recitals, and contemporary music presented by our composition classes. Other events will include a student symposium on musicology. And we haven't forgotten about jazz music lovers either. For those interested, I'd also like to mention the spectacle centered around the art of the actor and stage movement. As you can see, we strive to cater to a wide variety of expectations and tastes.

What do you think sets the CHEI Festival apart from other similar events in the Romanian cultural space?

Perhaps the young age of the performers is naturally a defining element, but I also believe it's the diversity. Just from what I've outlined so far, I think it's evident that the audience has access to a rich array of options.
