"Don Quixote", "Nabucco", "Giselle" and "Norma", this week on the stage of the Bucharest National Opera

Tuesday, 9 November 2021 , ora 15.23

We are waiting for you this week, in the Great Hall of Performances, with four titles from the current repertoire. The ballet "Don Quixote" by Ludwig Minkus, the opera "Nabucco" by Giuseppe Verdi, the ballet "Giselle" by Adolphe Charles Adam, as well as the latest production of the ONB "Norma" by Vincenzo Bellini, are our proposals for four evenings among musical chords and story choreography.

The ballet show "Don Quixote" by Ludwig Minkus will take place on Wednesday, November 10th, starting at 6:30 pm. Rhythm, color, lively atmosphere of a small town in Spain, picturesque characters inspired by the famous novel signed by Cervantes, a spectacular choreography with many moments of virtuosity in the interpretation of an exceptional cast means together the November 10th performance on the stage of the Bucharest National Opera .

On Thursday, November 11th, at 6:30 pm, we are waiting for you at the show with the opera "Nabucco" by Giuseppe Verdi. The show is one of the longest-lived creations in the history of the Bucharest National Opera. For this production, the late director Hero Lupescu, one of the most appreciated creators of performances in the history of Romanian lyrical theater, used to working with large ensembles, managed to give a special personality to the Choir, turning it into a single character, the same way his role in the Ancient Theater was perceived. Thus, the Choir or voice of a subjugated people, simultaneously performs the same movements, as a single being, has the same aspirations and feelings as a distinct personality.

On Saturday, November 13th, starting at 6:30 pm, we invite you to the ballet show "Giselle" by Adolphe Charles Adam. The show tells the love story between Giselle and Prince Albert (who hides his identity from the girl), who goes beyond death. The first act of the ballet covers almost the entire development of the narrative thread: the sequences in which the two young men declare their love alternate with the moments of dance and merriment of the villagers returning from harvest or with the conflicting scenes between Prince Albert and the forester Hans. The second act, a true choreographic "jewel" of classical ballet, depicts the fantastic world of iele, supernatural creatures who embody the souls of dead girls before the wedding, like Giselle.

On Sunday, November 14th, at 6:30 pm, there will be a performance of the latest premiere of ONB, "Norma" by Vincenzo Bellini. The love story between Norma, the high priestess of the Druid temple, and Pollione, the Roman proconsul in Gaul, presents the consequences of a devastating love that will take precedence over feelings of duty and dignity.

Tickets can be purchased at http://tickets.operanb.ro/ and at the Ticket Office of the Bucharest National Opera.

And because we want to stay healthy, we invite you to consult the rules for participation in performances available on the institution's website at the link:https://operanb.ro/regulament-de-participare-la-spectacole/
