His collaboration with this ensemble lasted for over two decades. 1991 is the year of the first album release signed by Dmitri Kitaenko and the Danish National Symphony Orchestra.

Dmitri Kataenko is one of the laureates of the first Herbert von Karajan competition , a Russian conductor considered by the professional critics’ one of the most important orchestra directors of his generation, alongside Yuri Termikanov. Dmitri Kitaenko has added to his resume collaborations with ensembles such as the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bern Symphony Orchestra and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, his repertoire containing symphonic compositions as well as operas. One of Dmitri Kitaenko’s important projects is the recording of the entire symphony compositions by Sergei Prokofiev.

The Russian conductor will once again direct at the desk of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra’s, Thursday, 6th March, in a concert with an itinerary entirely made out of compositions by Antonin Dvorak, replacing Lorin Mazaal who should have directed this concert in the first place. The programme contains: Carnival Uverture, a concert for cello and orchestra with the focus on Sol Gabetta and a famous symphony - Symphony No. 9 in E minor "From the New World.
