Thursday, 2 October 2014 , ora 14.59

The Garden of … Sounds – a programme addressed to all music lovers continues to be included in the fall schedule layout of Radio Romania Music.

Known pages from universal musical literature: from piano miniatures to concertante works, from chamber music to symphonic pages - they are all sound sequences which create the portrait of this programme. You will certainly find your favourite opuses in this section, in remarkable interpretations or – why not – you will discover the beauty of some lesser-known scores, from the very first edition of the fall schedule (4th October), when we bring to your attention, along with known concertante pages, the most recent recordings of the piano sonatas by Franz Schubert, interpreted by Daniel Barenboim for the recording label Deutsche Grammophon. The album, which was released on 18th August, will be entirely broadcast during the following eleven editions of the The Garden of … Sounds programme and is included in the ‘Vote for the Best Classical Album of 2014’ campaign, which takes place on www.radioromaniamuzical.ro.

‘... the piano sonatas by Schubert are a revelation. His music is both sad and cheerful. Sometimes, only one motif can evoke a feeling of happiness and, at the same time, it offers us an inside look into an abyss of indescribable melancholy. The truth is that it is impossible to express all these feelings in words. I was surprised by how much Schubert's music affected me. After spending six hours or more in intimate communion with his music, I found myself in a state of complete serenity and contentment. The feeling of infinite happiness I discovered during those hours still resonates today. I am full of gratitude for my late encounter with the piano sonatas by Schubert.’ (confessed Daniel Barenboim at the end of his recording sessions.) With this collection, Barenboim confirms once again his place among the greatest pianists of our time. You can listen to these recordings on Saturday and Sunday, starting at 11:00 and the repeats scheduled at 22:30.
