Cristian Măcelaru on 'Beyond the Stage', on 8th and 15th January, 2015

Tuesday, 30 December 2014 , ora 9.22

Distinguished with the Sir Georg Solti Conductor Award, Cristian Măcelaru is considered one of the most promising conductors worldwide, with a stunning ascension. At the same time that these programmes are broadcast, Cristian Măcelaru is conducting the National Danish Orchestra in a tour that will also reach Carnegie Hall in Hew York, thus granting the wish of the late maestro Rafael Frühbeck of Burgos. Violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter tops the bill of this series of concerts.

Cristian Măcelaru has made the most of many opportunities with intelligence and grace, but it also took a long time for him to accumulate everything he did so far. He practically made his debut as a conductor six years ago. Now, at thirty-four years old, he is 'conductor in residence' of the Philadelphia Philharmonic, where Yannick Nézet-Séguin is the main conductor and Charles Dutoit is the artistic director.

Cristian Măcelaru's biography is well known because he has often been invited to the Radio Hall, where he has won over both the public and the members of the orchestra. When in front of the microphone he has a very luminous volubility, even when he is evoking less pleasant aspects of his life. However he never ceases to marvel at all the accomplishments in his life.

Cristian Măcelaru, conductor and father of two children, has a story similar to a Hollywood screenplay, but you will find out more information about his life and career in the Beyond the Stage programmes on 8th and 15th January.
