Viennese Album Releases on 'Arpeggio', 3rd March

Monday, 2 March 2015 , ora 9.19

Having a generic title - Philharmonic Vienna Ensemble, the Deutsche Grammophon record company released an album of chamber music on the symbolic date of 1st January, 2015. It is being called symbolic due to the fact that it is associated with the traditional New Year's Concert that is backed up by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. This ensemble, that is actually a quartet with piano, wants to imprint the same the same excellence - in chamber music, as well - with which we have been accustomed for decades by the beautiful orchestra. The project was conceived by a member of the Vienna Philharmonic - Shkelzen Doli, the violinist who co-opted two other musicians - the violinist Holger Groh and the cellist Sebastian Bru alongside with the pianist Gottlieb Wallisch, an internationally renowned artist. They propose a heterogeneous programme that starts with the Piano Quartet No.1 in G minor KV 478 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, followed by an unusual combination of two chamber works by Robert Fuchs, Trio op.22 Piano and Piano Quartet No.1 op.75 no.2, two works by Richard Strauss, Waltz Paraphrase and Liebesliedchen, Por a cabesa by Carlos Gardel, and Beau Soir by Claude Debussy - as special surprises offered at the end of a Viennesse concert. We find here, beyond the four musicians' unquestionable professionalism, that the note of elegance and refinement that we generally associate with the universe of the Viennese concert is emphasised, a form of creativity that unites the classical repertoire pages of the twentieth century, being focused on a melodic line,a pleasant music suitable to be transmitted worldwidely by the Austrian television during the intermission of the New Year's Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic as it happened this year in January 2015.

The detail is being emphasised and also the quality of interpretation that takes into account the intrinsic delicacy and charm of music, especially since the ensemble members intend to to render the sonority of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, in a chamber music format: clear sound articulated in a perfect balance of voices, virtuosity, and the kind of refinement of a culture that is marked by brilliance and scope in the European musical area. The Philharmonic Vienna Ensemble launched in the early January this album which is addressed to the connoisseurs and chamber music lovers. Its appearance can be a joy in itself for the aforementioned category. The album named after the Philharmonic Vienna Ensemble is included in the "Vote for the best classical album of 2015" campaign.
