ʻImago Mundi' on the 'Radio Romania Music Concerts' - 17th March, 2015

Friday, 13 March 2015 , ora 16.11

A new concert organized by Radio Romania Music in partnership with the National Cotroceni Museum took place on 26th February, 2015, bringing in front of the public an ensemble which approaches a genre little played today - early Romanian music.

ʻImago Mundi' built a bridge between the present and the past, offering a perspective of the contemporary artist, in a voyage which has proven to be trully fascinating. On Tuesday, 17th March, starting at 19.00, you will be able to listen to the recording of this unique concert, the programme of which will go beyond the borders of our country, because it will represent Romania within one of the most important projects of the European Broadcasting Union, ʻEarly Music Day', celebrated every year on 21st March and marked in the UNESCO calendar since 2013.

ʻEarly Music Day':

In 2015, seven European broadcasting stations - in Spain, Germany, Great Britain, the Czech Republic, Romania, Sweden and Dennmark - are putting forward as many early music concerts with names that bear importance for the moment, which will be available for listening in the houses of millions of Europeans. The Early Romanian ʻImago Mundi' Music Ensemble also joins the initiative of Radio Romania Music in this project.

Isvor: (Spring)

The repertoire chosen for this concert reflects the musical traditions of the eighteenth century and that of the beginning of the nineteenth century - songs signed by anonymous authors, but also ones signed by the renowned scholar Dimitrie Cantemir. These are to be found on the Isvor album, signed by the ʻImago Mundi' Ensemble, which was released after the concert at the 'Casa Radio' Publishing House on 26th February. It is in fact a reissued album, because the album which first appeared in 2011 was then rapidly sold out from the professional stores.

The ʻImago Mundi' Ensemble was established in 2001 by Oana Ivașcu and Daniel Ivașcu and has, before long, become well-known thanks to its innovative projects for presenting early traditional Romanian music in a manner adapted to the audience of the twenty-first century.

They are addressing a dinamic public and are building the musical discourse from the perspective of the man influenced by the urban experience, who listens to various genres, but for whom the joy of music is always motivated by what he feels, and not by what is ʻin trend'.

At the present, the members of the ʻImago Mundi' Ensemble are Oana Ivașcu - oboe, Daniel Ivașcu - percussion, Adrian Buciu - flute, Andreea Țimiraș - cello, Cătălin Ștefănescu - guitar, kobza, mandolin and Ștefan Barbu - violin; and they are all renowned for their national and international musical activity.

ʻTaste, refinement, culture of the sound and professionalism are the defining qualities of this ensemble and of its repertoire', are the words of Dan Dediu about ʻImago Mundi' and Radio Romania Music offers you on Tuesday, 17th March, starting at 19.30, the recording of the concert hosted at the Cotroceni National Museum on 26th February!
