Five Special Programmes on the Radio Romania Music Concert Season, 6th – 10th April 2015

Friday, 3 April 2015 , ora 14.30

Among the broadcasts that we have prepared for you within the Holy Week there are five special editions of the Radio Romania Music Concert Season programme (starting at 17:05), where we propose as many recordings of highly appreciated musical events from the beginning of this year.

Three of these concerts were organized by Radio Romania Music itself! On Monday, 6th April, you can listen to the anniversary concert performed on the occasion of our radio station's 'coming of age'! On 24th March, this event was marked at the Cotroceni National Museum by the pianist Sînziana Mircea, who brought in front of the audience compositions which belonged to the romantic repertoire, signed by Frederic Chopin, Franz Schubert and Modest Mussorgsky.

On Tuedsay, 7th April, you will have the occasion to meet the violinist Răzvan Stoica and his Stradivarius violin on our frequency! He performed the Extraordinary New Year's Eve Concert with his sister, the pianist Andreea Stoica, and the performance was again organized by Radio Romania Music in partnership with the Cotroceni National Museum on 13th January. The programme consisted in well-known opuses belonging to Franz Schubert, Maurice Ravel, Astor Piazzolla, Fritz Kreisler and Henryk Wieniavski.

On Wednesday, 8th April, on the Radio Romania Music Concert Season, an unusual programme! The Imago Mundi ensemble performing early Romanian music at the Cotroceni National Museum (recorded on 26th February). A beautiful and moving journey into the sounds of the past, in which you will be introduced by Oana Ivașcu - oboe, Daniel Ivașcu - percussion, Adrian Buciu - flute, Andreea Țimiraș - cello, Cătălin Ștefănescu - guitar, kobsa, mandolin and Ștefan Barbu - violin.

The Romanian Youth Orchestra will be the main focus of Thursday, 9th April and Friday, 10th April's editions. Under the baton of the maestro Cristian Mandeal, the ensemble had its first collaboration with the Moldavian National Youth Orchestra on 15th February, and they gathered together for a concert which was hosted by the 'Romanian Youth' National Art Centre. The programme featured works signed by classical composers, as well as romanticists, but also Romanian music! We propose this concert on Thursday, 9th April, and the week dedicated to Radio Romania Music Concert Season will end on Friday, 10th April, with the recording of the concert held by the National Youth Orchestra at the Romanian Athenaeum on 21st March. The soloist was the Bulgarian pianist Plamena Mangova. The audience applauded opuses belonging to Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms, which were performed by the appreciated ensemble under Cristian Mandeal's baton.

I therefore invite you to spend some pleasant afternoons listening to theRadio Romania Music Concert Season, starting on Monday - 6th April until Friday, 10th April starting at 17:05!
