Live Broadcast from Copenhagen - the 'European Music Stage', 7th May

Thursday, 30 April 2015 , ora 15.53

On 7th May, two Swiss musicians will be the protagonists of the concert held by the Danish National Symphony Orchestra: the conductor Mario Venzago and the pianist Oliver Schnyder, artists known more or less by the Romanian music lovers, either from recordings or from the Radio Romania Music broadcastings.

Mario Venzago - a conductor between euphoria and surprises

With this kind of enthusiasm he was welcomed at his return to his native country in 2010, when he became the conductor of the Bern Symphony Orchestra; a post he has been occupying to this very day, together with that of being the chief conductor of the orchestra Royal Northern Simfonia (Great Britain), a partner musician of the Simfonietta Orchestra from Tapiola (Finland) and the Schumann Guest Conductor of the Dusseldorf Symphony Orchestra.

The peak of Mario Venzago`s career is at its maximum, due to his genuine vision over the famous repertoire, being inclined towards the German Romanticism. He has recently finished recording Anton Bruckner`s complete works, accompanied by different orchestras from Europe, a work named The Other Bruckner. One could read about the performance of the Fifth Symphony in the Gramophone Magazine that it breaks all the conventional rules (March, 2015); Mario Venzago`s other albums had works from Robert Schumann, Luigi Nono, Othmar Schoeck, Alban Berg and Maurice Ravel for which he was rewarded with two Grand Prix du Disque, Diapason d`Or and Edison Prize.

Mario Venzago has the ability to surprise his audience with powerfully personalized expressiveness; this is why I am curious how he will approach this programme, together with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra: the Totenfeier Symphonic Poem by Gustav Mahler and the Symphony no. 4 in D minor, Op.120 by Robert Shumann, which are resonant spaces, with vast possibilities for 'being shaped ', which surely will have a special angle in the vision of this maestro of the baton.

I appreciate Haydn's performing quality of the musical works

… said Oliver Schnyder in a video, who in 2012 released his album with three works by Joseph Haydn, put together with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields. This album received the Choc prize from the Classica magazine and the German radio stations that called him "the performer of the week". Today his discography is enriched with works by Brahms, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Liszt and Mozart.

The 42 years old pianist - frequently compared with Edwin Fischer, because of his poetic performing style - stirs excitement on the great stages all around the world. His success began in 2002, when he was the soloist of the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, while also being invited to perform with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of Moscow Radio and the WDR Radio Orchestra, Cologne, beside the prestigious Swiss ensembles. He had recitals in the great European capitals, in the U.S.A. and Asia.

Oliver Schnyder will meet the Danish National Symphony Orchestra for the first time, on the 7th May , when he will perform Joseph Haydn`s Concerto no. 11 in D major.

Therefore, we invite you to listen to the concert, broadcast live by Radio Romania Music, durig the The European Music Stage, on Thursday, 7th May, at 20:30.
