Arcadia String Quartet on Radio Romania Music Concerts - 21st July, 2015

Tuesday, 21 July 2015 , ora 9.23

Four young performers are the protagonists of the Radio Romania Music Concerts programme. After a long series of important performances on important stages around the world, the public had the occasion to listen to them again in a music hall in Bucharest. On 19th May, 2015, Arcadia - one of the most valuable young string quartets - performed at the Tinerimea Românã National Art Centre. Violinists back then were Ana Török and Rãzvan Dumitru, Traian Boalã - viola and the cellist Zsolt Török evolved during a balanced programme containing works by Joseph Haydn, Bela Bartok and Leos Janacek.

The ensemble formed itself within the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca. During the chamber music class of professor Nicușor Silaghi, member of the famous Transilvan Quartet, the four musicians which were part of the first formula of the Arcadia Quartet - violinists Ana Török and Rãsvan Dumitru, the viola player Marcel Camenițã and the cellist Zsolt Török - discovered a real vocation within themselves in cultivating this genre. Their participation in the Chamber Music Festival in Odorheiu Secuiesc, in October 2005, was this quartet's first successful recital; several more recitals followed in Cluj-Napoca, Sighișoara, Sibiu, Satu-Mare, marking their rapid progress from all points of view and their uncommon capacity of assimilating the new repertoire.

In December 2006 they won their first award in Cluj, in the famous Interpretation Competition of the Romanian Mozart Society, with enthusiastic appreciations for their stylistically pure performances of Mozart's compositions. The following year their value was again confirmed in Cluj, where they were awarded the First Prize at the Ferdinand Weiss Chamber Music Competition.

The same year 2007 marked their first international presence - their participation in the Orlando Festival in Kerkrade in the Netherlands and the concerts performed in Germany, within the Classic Open 2007 International Festival and in Austria, in Eisenstadt.

Another confirmation of the four members of the ensemble's success came last year, when they became the laureates of the eighth edition of the OsakaInternational Chamber Music Competition & Festa.

The String quartets Op 33 No. 2in E flat major 'The Joke', by Joseph Haydn, the String Quartet No. 3 by Béla Bartók and the String Quartet No. 2 "Intimate Letters", by Leo¹ Janáèek were on the playbillof the 19th May, 2015 concert performed at the Tinerimea Românã National Art Centre, which we invite you to listen to on Radio Romania Music on Tuesday, 21st July, in the interpretation of the Arcadia String Quartet.

On Radio Romania Music Concerts on Tuesday, 21st July, 2015, at 19:30.
