The Pianist Martha Argerich and the Conductor Nikolaus Harnoncourt Invited to 'The Garden of Sounds' - 2nd August, 2015

Friday, 24 July 2015 , ora 14.12

As expected, this week we will start our weekend mornings together in a new musical universe that you will discover in The Garden of Sounds. Among your various musical suggestions, there is a 1994 recording, we have found, of the Piano Concerto in A minor by Robert Schumann performed by the famous pianist Martha Argerichas a soloist. She was accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt.

Why is The Garden of Sounds the best choice for our weekend mornings? Who doesn't know that Mozart and Beethoven's music have a calming effect or that of Claude Debussy's induces you a state of deep relaxation? Is there anyone who has not used music for their own or for the common good? Do you admit that music changes our mood, healing us? We smile, we love and we cry when listening to music with our ears and our soul. Music is the oldest voice of the Earth and the only one that guides our soul.

That is why I invite you to enjoy the most famous compositions created by the greatest composers of different musical periods. On Sunday we start with harmonies composed by Antonio Vivaldi and played by the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra in the style of his age. We continue with the fascinating musical world of Mozart's compositions represented by The String Quintet No. 5 in D major, K. 593.

Beauty is best associated with Handel, whose Oboe Concerto in G minor will be played by Brice Haynes, accompanied by the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, conducted by Nicholas McGegan and the last two musical pieces will bear the signature of the London Festival Orchestra: Serenade in D minor, Op. 44, by Antonin Dvoűák, with Ross Pople at the conductor's desk and the passionate musical moments from Bizet's Carmen suites, the conductor Loic Bertrand being the protagonist.

Apart from these works, there will be Martha Argerich's exquisite performance of the Piano and Orchestra Concerto in A minor by Robert Schumann; she received three Grammy Awards, becoming a milestone of piano mastering, alongside with a conductor whose personality is overwhelming, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, at the desk of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.

I invite you all every Saturday and Sunday between 10:00 and 12:25 to walk alongwith me in The Garden of Sounds, a place where you will relax, heal and find yourselves.
