Although they have the same name and are based on the same principle, the saxophones require a different technical and stylistic approach for every existent type, especially for the three types that are highly used - tenor, alto and soprano, named as such after the ambitus. Chris Potter is one of the instrumentalists that shines in an even way, regardless of his saxophone, even during his collaboration with Steely Dan and Dave Holland, but especially on his own compositions that we encounter on his solo albums.

From the busy ensemble that he used for "Imaginary Cities", Chris Potter returns to the quartet comprised of pianist David Virelles, double bass player Joe Martin and drummer Marcus Gilmore. The musical content offers the group a lot of space and the possibility to express in a lyrical fashion, in an almost permanent rubato, glued together by style improvisations and generously melodic themes. The bass clarinet also appears to diversify the vocal and creativity spectrum, establishing the two main attraction points of the album "The Dreamer is the Dream": reed instruments and composition. It all talks about a profound sense of morality, portrayed with lyricism and emotion in a strictly instrumental setting. Chris Potter could be an example of a leader that can bring out the best in his own group.
