Expressiveness, dramatic meditation, virtuosity and astrological mystery - these are the elements featured in the performance on Friday, June 3rd starting 19:00. The National Radio Orchestra, under the baton of conductor Neil Thomson is to perform Antonin Dvoøákīs Violin Concerto in A minor, op. 53 with soloist Irina Murešanu and Gustav Holstīs Planets with the Radio Academic Chorus trained by Dan Mihai Goia.

Neil Thomson is considered to be one of the most distinguished British conductors of his generation. He has collaborated with numerous orchestras in the world as well as with renowned artists such as Sir James Galway, Valentin Gheorghiu, Jeremy Menuhin, György Pauk, Julian Lloyd Webber, and Peter Jablonski. Among his future projects is the collaboration with cellist Steven Isserlis (Schumannīs Cello Concerto), pianist Steven Hough (Lisztīs Piano Concerto No. 2), and percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie who is to perform in first audition Joe Duddellīs percussion concerto at the Cheltenham International Festival of Music.

Irina Murešanu graduated from the National University of Music Bucharest, class of Professor Štefan Gheorghiu, is appreciated by both the critics and the specialized journalists as īa complex musician, with a remarkable technique and perfect control, performing works from a rich repertoire.ī Excellent partner in chamber music, Irina Murešanu has collaborated with famous musicians in recitals or similar concerts: Kim Kashkashian, Cynthia Phelps, Sharon Robinson, Ronald Thomas, Andrés Cárdenes, Ilya Kaler, Nathaniel Rosen. Since 2002, she has been a member of the Boston Trio, resident ensemble at the New England Conservatory, a group she joined for numerous concerts organised by the chamber music societies of Andover, Boston and Walden Chamber Players.
