Jan Sekaci is the winner of this year's "Heirs of Musical Romania" scholarship competition. The 23-year-old musician spoke to us about his experience of taking part in the competition and beyond, in an interview with our colleague Sarah Natsis:

Jan Sekaci, you are the winner of the 5th edition of the "Heirs of Musical Romania" scholarship offered by Radio România Muzical and Rotary Club Pipera. First of all, congratulations! How did you find out about the news of winning the first prize?

I received the news by phone yesterday around 2.00 pm here in Germany and I would like to add many thanks to the organizers for giving this opportunity to young Romanian musicians. I can say that it will be a huge help in the years to come. Many thanks to Mrs. Cristina Comandașu and the Rotary Club Pipera.

What made you decide to take part in this competition and what do you aim to achieve with the scholarship you won, worth 4500 euros?

I applied for three years in a row for the "Heirs of Musical Romania " scholarship and I can say that I won at the right time at the end of my studies in Berlin.

In addition to this scholarship, our station offers you the opportunity to make a special recording session in the year 2025 and to perform a recital in Bucharest. Moreover, you will perform during the seasons of the philharmonics in Satu Mare, Cluj, Craiova and Brașov. What impact do you think all these experiences will have on your professional career?

They will help me tremendously in launching myself as a new artist in an industry, I can say, filled with outstanding artists. All these concerts and recordings in particular will be, in one way or another, a calling card that I could use at any time and in any place.
