Felix Mendelssohn and Anton Bruckner with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Marek Janowski
The musicians of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, one of the top four orchestras in the world, will present a program inspired by Romanticism. The audience from Bucharest also had the opportunity to listen to the famous German orchestra during two editions of the "George Enescu" International Festival, with one of the concerts led by its main conductor, Kirill Petrenko.
On October 11th, the orchestra will perform at home, at the Berlin Philharmonic, conducted by Marek Janowski-a musicianwell-versed in German musical tradition, celebrated worldwide for his interpretations of Wagner, Strauss, Brahms, and Bruckner. Having recorded a complete set of Bruckner's symphonies, Janowski has chosen Bruckner's Symphony No. 7 in E major for this evening.
At 85, the maestro's energy is remarkable, leading the Berlin Philharmonic through a vast soundscape-from the subtle nuances of the chamber music to the powerfulresonance that only an orchestra of such caliber can create it.
On a truly romantic evening, the famous violinist Augustin Hadelich will perform Felix Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64, in the first part of the program. Hadelich, a respected musician and Grammy winner, is the artist-in-residence with the WDR Symphony Orchestra. He was named "Musician of theYear 2018" by "Musical America", the oldest music magazine in the U.S. Hadelich returns to the stage of the Berlin Philharmonic, three years after his debut, to once againplay his 1744 Guarneri del Gesù violin.
