The guests of the Orchestra of Italian Switzerland are two legends of the concert stage:pianist Martha Argerich and conductor Charles Dutoit. In this combination, the two great musicians were guests of some memorable concerts featured in the "George Enescu" International Festival - the 2017 and 2023 editions.

LAC Lugano, is a modern cultural center designed for the music, visual arts and performance opened in 2015, it is a "home" for the Orchestra of Italian Switzerland. Received with enthusiasm by the public in the main concerts hall from Europe, the Orchestra of Italian Switzerland has a special relationship with Marta Argerich,who chose Lugano as the base for the project that bears her name.

The ballet "The card game" composed for the first Stravinsky Festival organized by George Balanchine in New York, premiered in 1937 at the Metropolitan Opera and opens the evening of November 21st. Of course, the most anticipated moment of the evening will be Robert Schumann's Piano Concerto in A minor, Op 54, performed by Martha Argerich, who will undoubtedly electrify the audience with charm, passion, and vitality of her interpretation. The evening will conclude with Bizet's Symphony no. 1 in C major, a work written in his student years by the composer of the world's most popular opera, "Carmen". The symphony was archived in the library of the Paris Conservatory and only premiered in 1935 in Basel, conducted by Felix Weingartner.

The evening of November 21st 2024 will be led by Charles Dutoit, the maestro, at 88 years old, radiates boundless energy, and under his baton, the Orchestra of Italian Switzerland is able to explore the entire sonorous spectrum.

This concert will be acquired by Radio România Muzical on Thursday, November 21st 2024, starting at 9:30 PM being broadcasted within the European Stage programme.
