"The Heirs of Musical Romania” - recital in Iași by clarinettist Petru Pane and pianist Daniel Dumitrașcu, after the dialog-meeting with Radio România Muzical listeners
On the 5th of March, the first event in the series of " Radio România Muzical Meetings ", a new project of our radio station, took place in Iași, hosted by the "George Enescu" National University of Arts, the first event in the series of "Radio România Muzical Meetings", with listeners, built in the form of a dialogue between Radio România Muzical journalists and those who listen to this radio station daily. In Iași, the station was represented by its manager, Cristina Comandașu, and Cătălin Sava, author of La grande bellezza. The audience gathered at Casa Balș was able to find out details about Radio România Muzical's national and international activities, ask questions to the producers and answer journalists' questions. There were also two musical moments performed by the pianist George Țăranu, a participant in the competition for the Heirs of Musical Romania scholarship, which was highly appreciated by the audience.
Aurelian Bălăiță, Rector of the University of Arts in Iași, was present at the event:
It was a wonderful evening. It was an evening that generated many ideas and raised many issues related to music education for young people. As we all know, the best investment we can make is in the education of young people and for it to be complete, it must include music education, because we need more than ever arts education. I think that among the arts, music is the highest. I hope that my colleagues from the other fields at the George Enescu National University of the Arts will not get angry with me, but it is a belief of mine, since childhood. I have been involved in the debates that are now taking place for high school education, and I still advocate that arts education should be part of compulsory classes at all high schools, regardless of the subject. Music has its role and it is important, indeed, who does those classes and how they do them. We, as a university of arts, are responsible for preparing and training teachers who do arts education, in particular music education.
The Radio România Muzical Meetings in Iași, organized together with the Gaudium Animae Foundation, attracted professionals as well as simple listeners of the radio station. Pianist Vasilica Stoiciu Frunză:
The idea was exceptional, especially since I have been involved since the opening of this wonderful musical communication channel that is Radio România Muzical Iași. I am very pleased that what started in Bucharest is being continued professionally. There is a great need for education, but not only. The opening of the musical horizon is continuous. Even if, to everyone's delight, we have a philharmonic, opera and conservatory in Iasi, it is never too much. Radio România Muzical has formed this mission over time and congratulations for the fact that you are maintaining a very good, very high and competitive level at the European level. I am always impressed by the efforts you make. We are colleagues and musicians and I understand very well what it means this permanent game, a mental game with yourself and with those who listen to you, because music is for people. Of course yes, those who listen know whether they like it or not, but the moment they have the information they start to know why they like it. This is very interesting, to have an educated audience, even if it's not a professional audience. And you, at România Muzical have this aim and this openness to emancipate the public's taste.
The Henri Coandă Hall of the Palace of Culture in Iași hosted on the 6th of March the recital Heirs of Musical Romania performed by clarinettist Petru Pane and pianist Daniel Dumitrașcu. Organized with the support of the Gaudium Animae Foundation and the Rotary Club Pipera, the recital was well received by the audience:
- We had a great time, we had a wonderful time listening to music of very high quality in a totally and utterly exceptional interpretation. We would like to have the opportunity to listen to the artists from this project. We congratulate Radio România Muzical for this marvelous undertaking, we also congratulate the artists of this evening and we sincerely hope to listen to them as soon as possible and to see them again in Iași.
- I think this is an extraordinary chance for young performers up to the age of 24 to have another opportunity to be promoted and to receive a scholarship. I know that other projects and programs at the national level help them, but the fact that they are also allowed to record repertoire of such scope and of such depth and complexity through Radio România Muzical is very pleasing. The fact that you brought them to Iași and included us in this national tour honors us even more. Thank you very much.
- It is a real surprise for me to see them, to hear them for the first time, although perhaps, unbeknown to me, in the events you have already mentioned, the young clarinettist was probably already there, but to see him today, on a stage, as a true professional, alongside the pianist, exceptional in his turn, was a great joy. Thank you for this opportunity that you have also given the music-loving public of Iasi to meet them and recognize them, as Cătălin Sava said.
- Extraordinary. Marvelous. I especially feel better when I don't have to sing and listen to other young artists singing. I didn't know about Petru Pane. I hope he never played guitar, because I'd like to sing with him. That's amazing. I felt like a kid at a music festival, honestly. Special, very special.
Thank you, Dragoș Ilie. What is the project like now, when you see it through someone else's eyes?
I don't even have words. Now I have to recover a bit. I think it's like a big family that expands every year and I wish it will continue to expand with guitarists, clarinetists, harpists and all the instruments. We have so many fine young people. I am humbled to be a part of them and I wish only that the energy of this project can continue.
Cătălina Pârvu, how was Radio România Muzical in Iași?
It is a great, great joy and an honor for us. We are extremely happy to be able to join this project and we intend to do it every time you propose this and we intend to support everything that the Heirs of Musical Romania projects mean. With gratitude and admiration to you, Cristina Comandașu, thank you very much.
How were those two?
They were womderful. You could tell from the audience's reaction. I was happy for this recital.
