Two Romanian artists are among this year's ICMA winners. The award for symphonic music goes to conductor Cristian Măcelaru for the Deutsche Grammophon album of George Enescu's works with the Orchestre National de France, which includes the two Romanian Rhapsodies and the first three symphonies.

In the "Chamber Music" category, the "Danel" Quartet wins the award for their complete recording of Dmitri Shostakovich's string quartets. The ensemble includes Romanian violist Vlad Bogdănaș.

In addition, the "Special Achievement Award" goes to German pianist Oliver Triendl, who was recognized for his recordings that bring lesser-known works to light. His latest album features Paul Constantinescu's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra.

Our colleague Cristina Comandașu, manager of Radio România Muzical, has been a member of the ICMA jury since 2019.
