The National Symphony Orchestra of the Italian Broadcasting at the ‘Arturo Toscanini’ Auditorium in Turin under the baton of Kirill Petrenko
The concert is held by the National Symphony Orchestra of the Italian Broadcasting at the 'Arturo Toscanini' Auditorium in Turin under the baton of Kirill Petrenko
This concert, which will have as its main character one of the most important orchestras from Italy, will be held on Thursday, October 16th, 2025, at the 'Arturo Toscanini' Auditorium in Turin and it will be conducted by Kirill Petrenko. He is a Russian conductor, born in 1972 in Omsk, Siberia. He moved to Austria at the age of 18 with his family, his father a violinist, his mother a musicologist, where he studied at the University of Music in Vienna, building, since then, an impressive artistic career. Since 2019, he has been the chief conductor and artistic director of the Philharmonic Orchestra in Berlin, with an indefinite contract. He mainly approaches the classical and romantic repertoire, being known for his perfectionism and for his attention to detail.
On the evening of October 16th, Kirill Petrenko will be on the rostrum of the National Symphony Orchestra of the Italian Broadcasting. He will conduct "The Dances from La¹sko" or "The Lachian Dances" by Leo¹ Janáèek, an orchestra suite inspired by the folklore of an ethnographic region in northeastern Moravia, called La¹sko in Czech. We will then listen to a Suite from the Music of the Ballet "The Miraculous Mandarin" created by Béla Bartók in 1927, a version intended for concerts but which still contains the main moments of the ballet.
After the intermission, Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No.2 in D Major, Op.36 will be performed. It is a creation in which the contrast between the composer's inner turmoil and the music's radiant energy is impressive. Beethoven composed most of this piece in Heiligenstadt, near Vienna, whilst dealing with serious signs of deafness.
Heiligenstadt is also the place where he wrote his famous Testament, a shocking text in which he expresses his desperation, as well as his decision to live on through art.
You will be able to listen to all of these creations on Radio România Muzical, Thursday, October 16th, 2025, from 9:30 PM!
