Interview with Mihai Constantinescu

Wednesday, 8 February 2023 , ora 10.44

Mr. Mihai Constantinescu, what does the award offered by the Union of Music Critics, Editors and Producers mean to you?

I was very impressed by the fact that the "Musicrit" Awards also thought of me, even though I retired a year ago from the activity of director of Artexim. I was impressed, I thank them very much and I hope that in the future we will have a collaboration, even if not between institutions, as a private person. The union proved that through this action that it carried out after twenty or so years, this union must be revived. And as it has started, I think it will do very well hereafter.

From your experience, what advice would you have for young cultural managers?

That's a whole course I could give, but in some ways they need to know a few things that their careers depend on. They must be fair, inspire confidence, be modest, be hardworking and prove by what they do, not what they say, that they are good where they have been put to work and necessarily create a good atmosphere for themselves to work. There are many things I could say, but these are the most important, and I believe that over the years, with the experience they gain, they will also have these qualities that are indispensable for a manager.

After the end of your mandate as the manager of the Enescu Festival, what activities still connect you to the area of cultural management?

I am still advisor on artistic and logistical issues of the festival for this year's edition, 2023, and I work very closely with maestro Marin Cazacu, the director of the Philharmonic "George Enescu", for raising the artistic level of the philharmonic concerts.
