A concert held by Big Band Radio and soloist Elena Gheorghe will take place on Sala Radio's stage on the 7th of March 2024. We find more information about this event, run under the title "Embraceable You", from Simona Strungaru, conductor of the Radio Ensemble, in an interview with Sarah Natsis:

Mrs. Simona Strungaru, Big Band Radio Romania holds a concert, together with vocal soloist Elena Gheorghe, celebratingthe artist's 20 years of musical activity. How did the idea for this anniversary concert come about?

The collaboration with Elena Gheorghe is a very beautiful one, and it is a culmination of an idea that had already existed for a long time, the idea of collaborating. We have known each other for a long time, but it is the first time we will be on stage together. Members of the orchestra have already been long-time collaborators of Elena in smaller band formations... This anniversary is a great moment for a concert where she can test her limits. She will not only performs her own original songs, but also certain pieces with jazz accents, and in that sense, it is very enriching for our orchestra.

How are the rehearsals for the concert going, and what is the working atmosphere with the musicians like?

The rehearsals are going well. We are in the midst of building the program. Together, we are discovering new pieces from her as well as jazz standards, and we all hope for a beautiful concert.

Can you tell us what's the new project the Big Band Radio is preparing?

The next concert will take place in March, on the 21st, featuring saxophonist Cristian Soleanu as the soloist, who is also invited as a composer. It will be an author's concert, exclusively showcasing his works orchestrated for the Big Band. Some of them are already published. We are delighted about this reunion of the Big Band with Cristian Soleanu, who was a member of the ensemble for a long period.
