Cellist Răzvan Suma at the Palas Mall Iași - in the 'Listen to 5 Minutes of Classical Music' Project

Thursday, 3 October 2013 , ora 9.40

Radio Romania Music, the only Romanian radio station dedicated exclusively to classical music and jazz, brings, once more, classical music closer to the public of our days: between 1st- 31stOctober, 5 minutes of classical music can be listened to in unconventional spaces all over Romania: hypermarkets, malls, libraries, schools, museums, thanks to the campaign 'Listen to 5 minutes of classical music'.

But more than that, on 7th October, from 19:00 , classical music will be heard live at the Palas Mall in Iași, a Radio Romania Music initiative: the well-known cellist Răzvan Suma, soloist of the Orchestras and Choirs of Radio Romania, will perform Brahms alongside the pianist Josu Okinena. This is a unique way of acquainting the public at large with classical music and, also, a preview to the recital which the two musicians will perform at Caudella Hall in Iași on 8th October, at 19:00.

Between 8th- 29th October, the cellist Răzvan Suma holds the tour 'Do you like Brahms?', performing the two sonatas for cello and piano by Johannes Brahms, together with the Spanish pianist Josu Okinena, in 13 cities of Romania.

In the following period, also, other surprise-recitals held by Răzvan Suma and Josu Okinena will take place in unconventional spaces, but with a large public: at the Iulius Mall in Suceava on 9th October, at the Iulius Mall in Timișoara on 14th October and at the Iulius Mall in Cluj on 16th October.

'Listen to 5 minutes of classical music' is a campaign initiated by Radio Romania Music with the purpose of bringing classical music as close to the public at large. The campaign has reached its 7th edition, being welcomed with success and a great deal of interest by the public at its previous editions which were held twice a year beginning with 2010.

The principle of the campaign is simple: broadcasting 5 minutes of classical music daily, in as many unconventional spaces as possible, other than concert halls, where the flow of the public/visitors is as large. Also, daily the song of the day included in the 'Listen to 5 minutes of classical music' project can be heard even on Radio Romania Music, but also in the Radio Romania Regional network.

The project has as primary target the acquainting, especially of the young public, with the sonorities of the classical music. This year, as a novelty, the project enjoys an important development due to its collaboration with educational units all over Romania, which means that a considerable number of Romanian pupils will be able to listen to classical music during the breaks or during the music and tutoring classes .

For more information on this project please refer to www.romania-muzical.ro/5minutewhich also hosts the audio files of the musical pieces included in the project.

'Listen to 5 minutes of classical music' is a Radio Romania Music project, initiated and developed by Cristina Comandașu.
