Today, 18th November, 2013, Mrs Eugenia Văcărescu-Necula, the conductor of the Romanian Radio Children's Choir for over two decades, passed away at the age of seventy five. After graduating from the National University of Music Bucharest, she was appointed, in 1981, conductor of the Romanian Radio Children's Choir, whose activity guided her professionally, on all levels: repertoire strategies, practice, recordings, concerts in the country and abroad. Eugenia Văcărescu-Necula held conferences in Italy and Switzerland, and also taught coral conducting master classes in Portugal. On the 75th anniversary of Radio Romania, Mrs Eugenia Văcărescu-Necula was presented with the Order Cultural Merit in the rank of Knight for her important contribution to the promotion of cultural values and to the development of the public service of radio broadcasting. In the Romanian Radio Children's Choir, conducted by Eugenia Văcărescu-Necula, sang the sopranos Roxana Constantinescu, Cristina Radu and the opera costume designer, Miruna Boruzescu. 'The difficult times in my life have given me strength. I've always known how to smile out of decency and because I didn't want to burden anyone with my problems. I am a fighter and I've always admired everything that has to do with life and harmony,' said Mrs Eugenia Văcărescu-Necula in the interview in her book about the history of the Romanian Radio Children's Choir. May God rest her soul in peace.
