'From all the corners of the spiritual world' - Cris, 28th of March – 1st of April 2018

Wednesday, 11 April 2018 , ora 11.24

"From all the corners of the spiritual world" is a series of vocal-instrumental concerts organized in the Evangelical Church in Criț, Brasov county, during the Catholics and Protestants's Holy Week from 28 March to 1 April 2018. The project is organized by Viva Sighișoara Culture Association Academy of Sighisoara, in partnership with Michael Schmidt Foundation.

Within the project, 5 Romanian artists and 5 foreign artists (from Switzerland, Spain, Austria) will host three concerts for the general public and a concert dedicated to children and young people from the locality and the neighboring settlements. There will be works from the creation of universal composers from different stylistic epochs included in the program, as well as works of Romanian composers written especially for this event.

The concert series will open on Wednesday, March 28th, with an organ concert by the Swiss organist Antonio García, soprano Anna Weber (Austria) and Dominik Bauer bas-bariton (Austria), who will perform works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Gabriel Fauré, Franz Schubert and Dieterich Buxtehude.
On the Good Friday Night, the last seven words of the Savior on the Cross by Joseph Haydn will be performed at the chamber concert by violinists Alexandru Gavrilovici (Switzerland) and Andrea Duca (Spain), violinist Lilla Fodor (Romania) and violinist Horatiu Ludușan (Romania). Children and young people are invited to a lecture concert on Saturday 31 March where they will have the opportunity to get acquainted with musical instruments and cult music. The series of concerts ends on Sunday, April 1st, on the Day of Resurrection with a chamber concert supported by the invited artists: Anna Weber - soprano (Austria); Dominik Bauer - bas-baritone (Austria); Alexandru Gavrilovici - violin (Switzerland); Andrea Duca - violin (Spain); Lilla Fodor - viola (Romania); Horațiu Ludușan - violoncel (Romania); Daniel Dumitrana - contrabass (Romania); Evelina Andrieș - Harp (Romania); Dan Variu - toaca (Romania). In addition to the works of the international composers György Ligeti, Gioachino Rossini, Bedűich Smetana, the works of contemporary Romanian composers Aurelian Băcan, Alexandru Ștefan Murariu, Dan Variu and Sonia Vulturar, scholars of the Academy of Sighișoara. The organizers launched a proposal to the young Romanian composers, asking them to compose a vocal-instrumental work, inspired by the paschal theme. In order to transfer ideas and understand the instrumental specificities and the compositional concept, the performers and the four Romanian composers will actively participate in two experimental rehearsals before the concerts. For the timbre diversity and repertory variety, the organizers proposed that the vocal instrumental ensemble be made up of a string quartet (2 violins, viola, cello and double bass), a harp, percussion, organ and two voices (soprano and bas-baritone).

The concerts take place at the Crikvenic Evangelical Church at 18 and 12 (concerts for children and young people). Entrance is free for all the concerts.
