Romania participates at The International Organ Festival Terra Sancta in Greece, Cyprus, Jordan and Israel
The International Organ Festival Terra Sancta will take place between the 29thof September and 21st of November 2019 inside churches in Greece, Cyprus, Jordan and Israel. Romania will be represented by Prof. Erzsébet Windhager-Geréd, with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv. She will perform three organ recitals between 22-24 October on Yaffo, Nazareth andJerusalem. The International Organ Festival Terra Sancta is hosted by the Israel's Catholic Church representative, Custodia Terrae Sanctae and it is one of the most prestigious festivals in Israel. The 2019 edition will take place inside churches in Greece, Cyprus, Jordan and Israel. The participants are from Italy, Hungary, Greece and Romania.
Erzsébet Windhager-Geréd completed a series of courses at the Organ Department of Gheorghe Dima Academy of Music in Cluj, under Prof. Ursula Philippi's guidance. She continued her studies at the University of Music in Vienna with Michael Rădulescu and Peter Planyavsky, where she received a B.A in applied organ and religious music graduating magna cum laude. Then, she continued studying with Olivier Latry and Michel Bouvard at the Parisian Conservatory. Prof. Windhager-Geréd has been honoured with numerous prizes and scholarships, including Organ Competition Bruges, Stiftung St. Severin Austria, Fondation Meyer London and Mecenat Musical Paris. She worked between 2005-2017 as an organ, improv and coir professor at the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj. Today, she is an organist at the Lutherische Stadtkirche (The Lutheran State Church) in Vienna.
