With great pleasure we announce a historic moment for Cluj International Music Competition, which recorded an unprecedented number of entries: 283 on clarinet and 322 on flute. The popularity of the 10-year-old contest in Cluj-Napoca has gradually increased with each edition, but this year's leap is truly remarkable and surprising. The contest, which would normally have taken place in Cluj-Napoca, was partially transferred online earlier this year.

One of the attractions of the competition for young musicians from all over the world is the extraordinary jury made up of the most talented and fashionable instrumentalists of the moment, with whom the competitors will have the opportunity to meet online starting with the second stage. This opportunity, along with the value of cash prizes, musical instruments or concerts with important orchestras in Romania, but also the positive experiences of previous editions, attracted competitors from 55 countries: South Africa, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Chile, China, Colombia, South Korea, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Denmark, Switzerland, Estonia, Russian Federation, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Honduras, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Italy , Japan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Great Britain, Mexico, Norway, New Zealand, Netherlands, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, USA, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, Hungary, Uzbekistan, Venezuela.

In the Flute section we are honored to have with us: Denis Bouriakov (Russia) - Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, Silvia Careddu (Italy) - National Orchestra of France, Seiya Ueno (Japan) - Osaka College of Music, Sébastian Jacot (Switzerland) - Gewandhaus Leipzig, Loïc Schneider (France) - Swiss Romande Orchestra, Eduard Belmar (Spain) - Frankfurt Opera, MathildeCalderini (France) - Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra, Matvey Demin (Russia) - Tonhalle Orchestra in Zurich, Yubeen Kim (South Korea) - Konzerthausorchester in Berlin, Clément Dufour (France) - Lille National Orchestra, Alberto Acuña Almela (Spain) - Karajan Academy (Berlin Philharmonic).

The jury of the Clarinet section consists of: Nicolas Baldeyrou (France) - Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra, Shirley Brill (Israel) - professor at the HochschulefürMusik in Saar, Giovanni Punzi (Italy) - Copenhagen Philharmonic, Han Kim (South Korea) - Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Carlos Ferreira (Portugal) - National Orchestra of France, Spyros Mourikis (Greece) - Athens State Orchestra, Damien Bachmann (Switzerland) - CHAARTS Chamber Artists, ChristellePochet (Belgium) - National Orchestra of France, Sergey Eletskiy (Russia) - National Orchestra of Russia, Sérgio Fernandes Pires (Portugal) - Musikkollegium Winterthur Orchester, Joë Christophe (France) - international artist. The president of the two juries is Rãzvan Poptean (Romania) - "Transylvania" State Philharmonic Orchestra.

The members of the juries of the preliminary stage have the complex mission to hear the recordings of the 605 participants until March 15th, 2021, when the first of the three online stages of the contest will end, and the results will be displayed on the page www.notesandties.ro.

This year's hybrid edition will bring the finalists to Cluj-Napoca in the only stage that will take place live, together with the orchestra of the State Philharmonic "Transylvania", in the fall of 2021.
