The Madrigal Choir launches the Cantus Mundi Summer School - 2021 Edition

The National Chamber Choir "Madrigal - Marin Constantin" launches applications for the Cantus Mundi Summer School - 2021 Edition, through the Cantus Mundi National Program.

The third edition of the program will take place over four series of two weeks each, between July 5th - August 27th, and it is aimed at children aged between 7 and 12 years old from Bucharest and its environs, willing to enhance their creativity through music, music education and other artistic activities.

The workshops of the Cantus Mundi Summer School will be organized at the Cantus Mundi headquarters in Aleea Dealul Mitropoliei no. 11, district 4, Bucharest, and will be coordinated by the professionals of the Madrigal Choir and Cantus Mundi, trainers with extensive experience in the field.

The Cantus Mundi Summer School is held with the purpose of offering children a complex, applied and entertaining educational alternative through interactive processes, learning by doing, and it includes: knowledge and personal development games (social, musical, role-play, communication), explained musical auditions, choral music workshops, notions of percussion, stage movement, watching performances with explanations and interactive games, musical improvisation or meetings with artists.

The activities in the program are built on age groups, adapted to the stages of social, psychological, emotional and cognitive development of the participants, and support the children to acquire new ways of artistic expression and development.

The four series of the Cantus Mundi Summer School - 2021 Edition will take place between 9AM-5PM, from Monday to Friday, according to the following calendar:

1st series: July 5th - 16th 2021

2nd series: July 19th - 30th 2021

3rd series: August 2nd - 14th 2021

4th series: August 16th - 27th 2021

The participation fee for a series is 800 RON per person and covers the workshops and activities in the program, as well as the value of the lunch.

The workshops of the Cantus Mundi Summer School - 2021 Edition will be organized in compliance with all official rules on the prevention of COVID-19 applicable at the date of the program in order to ensure the health safety of all participants involved in the process.

The number of participants in a group will not exceed 15 people, and the space will be constantly sanitized by nebulization.

The "Madrigal - Marin Constantin" National Chamber Choir is a symbol of the Romanian and universal musical life. Since its establishment in 1963 by conductor Marin Constantin (1925-2011), the Madrigal Choir has performed over 4.500 concerts applauded around the world, imposing itself as a true "country brand". It is one of the world standards of chamber choral music with a large repertoire aimed at the European Renaissance, Byzantine music and contemporary Romanian and universal creation.

In November 2016, the "Madrigal - Marin Constantin" National Chamber Choir was officially recognized as Ambassador of Freedom, Hope, and Peace, receiving the "Jan Nussbaum and Eleanor Roosevelt"award at the United Nations Palace in Geneva, within the Global Summit of Religion, Peace and Security.

This year, Madrigal celebrates 58 years of uninterrupted activity, being one of the longest-lived and most appreciated choral European ensembles.

The Cantus Mundi National Program is the largest program of social integration through music in Romania, initiated by the renowned conductor Ion Marin and carried out with the involvement of the members of the "Madrigal - Marin Constantin" National Chamber Choir.

After over 9 years of activity, the Program brings together over 1.660 choirs under its umbrella. Over 60.000 children together with their conductors participate in the promotion of choral music all over the country, overcoming barriers related to ethnicity, social condition and physical or mental abilities, thus building complex cultural nuclei, so necessary for the revitalization of our society.
