Monday, 13 March 2023 , ora 10.46

One of the most important events within the "Timișoara, European cultural capital" program takes place on Tuesday, March 14th, at 7:00 p.m., when Cristian Măcelaru, the ambassador of the program, performs at the lectern of the WDR Broadcasting Orchestra; he has been the chief conductor of the orchestra since 2019. The concert takes place in the Capitol Hall of the "Banatul" Philharmonic in Timișoara. The soloist is the Macedonian pianist Simon Trpceski, with whom Cristian Măcelaru recorded a disc nominated in 2022 for the ICMA (International Classical Music Awards).

The program includes two works by Johannes Brahms: Concert no. 2 for piano and orchestra, and Symphony IV, together with "Caritas", signed by Klaus Lang, Austrian composer born in 1971, work commissioned by WDR, performed in the first Romanian audition.

The Timișoara concert can be heard live on Radio România Muzical, from 7 p.m, and on TVR Cultural, at the same time. From 8 p.m Romanian time, on the same evening, the concert is also broadcast by ARTE television, the sound being provided by the Radio România team.

The concert is commented from the Radio România Muzical studio in Bucharest by Anca Ioana Andriescu.
