Martha Argerich opens the RAI National Symphony Orchestra's season at the 'Arturo Toscanini' Auditorium in Turin!

Monday, 23 October 2023 , ora 10.58

The opening concert of the 2023-2024 season performed by the National Symphony Orchestra of Italian Radio and Television under the baton of Fabio Luisi and broadcast live by Radio România Muzical, will take place on Thursday, October 26th, at the "Arturo Toscanini" Auditorium in Turin and be centered around the great pianist Martha Argerich.

She will perform the Concert no. 1 op. 15 in C major for piano and orchestra by Ludwig van Beethoven.

Passionate about works overflowing with virtuosity, especially masterpieces composed in the 19th and 20th centuries, Martha Argerich has a huge repertoire that includes musical pages from all eras, from Bach to Bartok, from Beethoven to Messiaen, passing, of course, through the creations of the great romantics, too - Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, Tchaikovsky or of the 20th century composers - Debussy, Ravel, Franck, Prokofiev, Stravinsky, Shostakovich.

The Argentinian pianist collaborated throughout her career with prestigious orchestras, with great conductors, often participated in festivals in America, Japan or Israel, but also in Europe, and in this sense the concert that Martha Argerich gave this autumn is memorable within the "George Enescu" International Festival from Bucharest.

In the second part of the evening of October 26th, Fabio Luisi, who is conductor emeritus of the National Symphony Orchestra of the Italian Radio Television, will offer the audience at the "Arturo Toscanini" Auditorium in Turin, the 5th Symphony in E minor op. 64 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

Fabio Luisi is an Italian conductor who approaches both the symphonic and operatic repertoire. In 2011, Luisi succeeded James Levine at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. He currently conducts the Italian Radio Television Symphony Orchestra, but also collaborates with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra or the NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo.

We are waiting for you on Thursday, October 26th, 2023, from 9:30 p.m. when you will be able to watch this exceptional concert on "Radio România Muzical"!
