The MUSICRIT Awards Gala - 2nd Edition

On Sunday, January 14th, 2024, at 7:00 PM, the MUSICRIT AWARDS GALA for the year 2023 will take place under the dome of the Romanian Athenaeum. The event is organized by the Union of Critics, Editors, and Music Producers in Romania (UCRRM) in partnership with the "George Enescu" Philharmonic. It represents a unique initiative in the Romanian cultural landscape to reward Excellence in both the artistic field and the domains of journalism and management in classical music.

The categories for which the MUSICRIT AWARDS will be presented in the year 2023 are as follows:

Musical Criticism; Journalism; Management; Discography; Musical Projects; Best Lyric Season in the country; Best Symphonic Season in the country; Festival of the Year; Musician of the Year; Lyric Artist of the Year; Revelation of the Year; and Young Journalist of the Year.

In addition to the 13 MUSICRIT AWARDS, there will also be 4 EXCELLENCE AWARDS and the MUSICRIT Trophy presented.

The Gala will feature, in addition to the award ceremony, musical performances by mezzo-soprano Judit Kutasi, bass Alexander Kopeczi, soprano Rodica Vică, baritone Alexandru Chiriac, pianist Daria Tudor, cellist Ștefan Cazacu, Irina Sârbu, and Ana Parghel Sârbu. Also, there will be performances by the Violoncellissimo Ensemble, Musica Ricercata Ensemble, the Madrigal National Chamber Choir conducted by Anna Ungureanu, and the Romanian Youth Orchestra conducted by Gabriel Bebeșelea. These artists and musical groups honor Romania through each of their concerts and have a certain international value.Moreover, this edition of the MUSICRIT Awards Gala is part of a series of artistic events organized at the Romanian Athenaeum in celebration of the National Culture Day. The hosts for the evening will be Luminița Arvunescu, the President of the Union of Critics, Editors, and Music Producers in Romania, and Marius Constantinescu, a TVR journalist.

The Gala is broadcasted live by Radio România Muzical.

The Union of Critics, Editors, and Music Producers in Romania (UCRRM) was established in 1990 by prominent personalities such as Iosif Sava, Grigore Constantinescu, Smaranda Oțeanu-Bunea, Dumitru Avachian, Mihaela Doboș, or Elena Zottoviceanu. It is the most active supporter of musical values in the Romanian space through print and audio/visual media. Among its current members are Costin Popa - music critic, Prof. Dr. H.C. Valentina Sandu Dediu - Rector of the College of Advanced Studies "New Europe," Cristina Comandașu - Manager at Radio România Muzical, Claudia Robu and Valentina Băințan - TVR Cultural program hosts, Luminița Arvunescu - radio show host and event organizer, and the current President of UCRRM, among others.
