Radio Romania Music Journalists, awarded at the Musicrit Awards Gala

On the 14th of January 2024, the second edition of the Musicrit Awards Gala took place at the Romanian Athenaeum, an event organized by the Union of Music Critics, Editors and Producers of Romania (UCRRM), which rewards artistic and editorial excellence in the field of cultured music.

The "Young Journalist of the Year" award went to a Radio România Muzical producer, Petre Fugaciu.

Among the winners of the "Mihail Jora" Music Criticism Competition, organised by UCRRM, who received their awards at the Musicrit Gala, there was also Ana Sireteanu, who won the third prize, as well as the special prize for opera criticism, offered by director Rareș Zaharia, in memory of her mother, the late musicologist Mioara Bâscă, who had a long career as an artistic advisor to the Radio Chamber Orchestra. Ana Sireteanu is a Radio România Muzical collaborator.

The organizer of the Musicrit Gala and President of the Romanian Union of Music Critics, Editors and Producers is Luminița Arvunescu, Radio România Muzical producer, author of the emblematic programme "Seara de opera".

Petre Fugaciu (27 years old) graduated from the "George Enescu" National College of Music in Bucharest in 2014, in the piano class of Prof. Lelia Rădulescu. From 2014 to 2020 she attended the bachelor and master courses of the National University of Music in Bucharest, specializing in Musicology, in the class of Prof. Mihai Cosma. From 2014-2016 she was a volunteer of the International Singing Competition Le Grand Prix de l'Opéra. In 2016 he made his debut in Musical Actuality magazine, and in 2019 he was a member of the student jury of the Suzana Szörenyi International Duo Competition. In 2020 he was part of the Music Lab project team, initiated by the Isvor Cultural Association, where he wrote texts about musical instruments for children. In 2021 he was part of the project team Houses of musicians, where he conducted interviews about the life and work of important Romanian musicians in Bucharest. In 2018-2019 he was a contributor of Radio România Muzical, where he was editor since 2019 and producer since 2024. At Radio România Muzical, Petre Fugaciu is the author of the "Composer of the week" program, of the "Essential" music education column, and of numerous interviews and reports from current musical events. Last but not least, he is part of the team of commentators for live broadcasts of major international events, received through the EBU, as well as national events such as the "George Enescu" International Festival.

Ana Sireteanu (22) graduated in 2021 from the George Enescu National College of Music in Bucharest, flute section. She is currently a third-year student at the Musicology Department of the Faculty of Composition, Musicology and Music Pedagogy of the National University of Music in Bucharest, in the class of prof. univ. Valentina Sandu-Dediu. Ana-Maria Sireteanu participated in 2022 and 2023 in the National Student Musicology Competition of UNMB (in both editions she won the 3rd Prize), as well as in the Student Musicology Symposium of the UNMB Chei Festival (2022 and 2023 editions) and in the National Student Musicology Symposium Musicologia Mirabilis (7th edition, 2023) in Iasi. In December 2022, Ana-Maria Sireteanu won the 3rd Prize at the National Competition of Composition, Criticism and Music Performance ,,Mihail Jora", music criticism section, and was also awarded the Special Prize ,,Mioara Bâscă" for the best opera critic. She has also published music reviews and articles in Actualitatea muzicală, Revista Festivalului George Enescu 2023 and Revista Acord of UNMB. In parallel, she continues to work as a performer.

Since April 2022 she has been a contributor to Radio România Muzical, where she conducts interviews and music news.
