Pianist Andrei Petrache - live on Radio Romania Music, at "Jazz Planet"

Monday, 29 January 2024 , ora 10.46

Pianist Andrei Petrache is coming live this Sunday on Jazz Planet, on Radio România Muzical, starting at 6 pm. He will be joined by drummer Philip Goron, his bandmate from the band Amphitrio.

Amphitrio has recently released two records, Points and Seasons, which reflect the young artists' ambition to create original, innovative music in line with the latest trends in contemporary jazz.

The band's line-up also includes bassist Mike Alex alongside Andrei Petrache and Philip Goron. All members of Amphitrio are students at the Conservatory.

The trio was founded in 2020 and has since taken part in several major jazz festivals, including the last two editions of Jazz in the Park in Cluj, where it won the prize for best composition.

Born in 1998, Andrei Petrache has also been active in the field of classical music. He took his degree in music composition under Professor Dan Dediu and is currently studying orchestra conducting under the guidance of Professor Cristian Mandeal.

Since 2008, Andrei Petrache has won 30 prizes for interpretation and 32 for composition at national and international competitions. He has written more than 70 classical and jazz works, including the chamber opera "Der Besucher", performed by the Bielefeld Theatre in 2022, and the cantata for choir and orchestra " În tină", performed by the George Enescu Philharmonic in 2023.

At Jazz Planet we will be discussing primarily about Amphitrio's music, but also about other projects by these new generation artists.
