Interview with Dragoș Dimitriu, artistic director of the Philharmonic Orchestra, Brașov

Thursday, 11 April 2024 , ora 12.06

On Tuesday, April 9th, one month before celebrating Europe Day, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Brașov will perform in Berlin. Details about this event are provided by Ioan Dragoș Dimitriu, the artistic director of the mentioned institution, who spoke with Ioana Țintea.

Mr. Ioan Dragoș Dimitriu, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Brașov will perform a concert on April 9th, 2024, on the stage of the Berlin Philharmonic. Could you please provide us with more details about this event?

This concert is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the premiere of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9. Therefore, the program will feature Beethoven's Symphony No. 9. The Brașov Philharmonic, the Symphony Orchestra, will travel to Berlin for a concert on April 9th (admittedly, one month earlier than the anniversary day, which would have been on May 9th), and we will perform alongside Maestro Daisuke Soga, soprano Alessia Schumacher, alto Flaka Goranci, tenor Benjamin Glaubitz, bass Oscar Hillebrandt - as soloists, and alongside a choir actually composed by two choirs - one from Japan and one from Germany, a festive choir.

The entire project was initiated and promoted by the Association for Promoting International Education and Good Will (APIEG) in Japan, to whom we are very grateful for the invitation. And, of course, it is an honor for us to perform in the main hall of the Berlin Philharmonic for the first time.
