Interview with soprano Aida Pascu (III)

Monday, 15 April 2024 , ora 14.54

Soprano Aida Pascu, winner of the title "Young Performer of the Year 2024" at the International Classical Music Awards, ICMA, gave an interview to our colleague Sarah Natsis, from which we learn more about her artistic career, but also about her future projects and plans:

You come from a family of musicians, your parents being opera artists themselves. To what extent has this context influenced your career?

I simply knew that this was the path I wanted to take - I had no doubts. I have lived surrounded by music, by vocal technique. Naturally, it was easier for me to understand this world and to form a culture.

Following your participation in the "Heirs of Musical Romania" scholarship competition organised by Radio România Muzical, you were invited to perform a concert with the Radio Chamber Orchestra, as well as a special recording session at Radio România. The audience at the Radio Hall was also able to see you at the Maria Callas-100 Gala, which took place on 8th of December 2023. How would you describe your relationship with Radio România and, implicitly, with the institution's ensembles?

Radio Romania is a foundation of my career. It is a milestone in terms of the opportunities it has given me and the support that was given in this way. As a young person, it is very important to know that there are people who believe in you and encourage you to go on, which I feel from the Radio Romania team.

After such a fruitful year that will remain a reference point in your artistic career, what would you like to see in the future?

First of all, health. It is the most important for me to be able to sing, to move around, I certainly want job opportunities that I make sure I always honour with seriousness and total commitment. I just work to give the audience a beautiful experience, I compare myself to me and if I have progressed a little bit since yesterday I am satisfied, which is true on all levels, not only professional.
