Romanian Piano Trio – recital at the Romanian Athenaeum

Monday, 13 September 2010 , ora 10.38

On September 8th 2010, violinist Alexandru Tomes, pianist Hora Michail and cellist Răzvan Suma, reunited in the Romanian Piano Trio, are performing a recital at the Romanian Athenaeum, within the cycle of Musicales in Bucharest, held by the Cultural Association Lanto Arte. The performers’ programme contains works of Camille Saint-Saëns, Nikolai Rimski Korsakov, Georg Friedrich Händel, Robert Schumann, Pablo de Sarasate and Astor Piazzolla.

Violinist Alexandru Tomescu talked to us about this programme:

‘It is an extremely affordable programme that contains famous works, which even I crave for listening with great pleasure once again. I am talking about Camille’s Saint-Saens Swan, which is going to be performed by my colleagues Razvan Suma and Horia Mihail, following Handel-Halvorsen’s Passacaglia or Piazzolla’s Seasons at Buenos Aires. I think this is a summer concert for the beginning of September, which will be very enjoyable for the Bucharest public.

The idea of organizing such musicales in summer, when concert activity is less intense, is excellent. I would say that it is a step towards aligning the situation in our music, because abroad, these kinds of festivals have taken place for many years now and already enjoy a great tradition. In my opinion it was high time for someone to take such an initiative in our country’.
