The first edition of the "Musicrit" Awards Gala was held on Saturday, the 14^th of January. It was organized by the Music Critics, Editors and Producers Union.Among the winners was our colleague, Anca Ioana Andriescu, who was given the Excellence Award for her entire radio activity. We'll find out more from Anca Ioana Andriescu herself, in an interview given to Ioana Ţintea.

Dear madam, Anca Ioana Andriescu, what does this award mean to you?

It came as a surprise, and of course I feel honored to receive such an award. But I'm convinced that there are lots of other colleagues,who are still active or who are no longer part of the editorial team of the radio, who truly deserved such recognition.

You have been in the service of the public radio for over 40 years. Do you remember what thoughts you started on this road with?

This fall marked 40 years, and I wouldn't have kept count of the number of years if my first appearance on the radio hadn't coincided with me getting my driver's license, that's how I figured out how fast the time has passed.It was a special emotion, because my musicology practice teacher, Mr. Grigore Constantinescu, sent me in the first years of college to carry out my first collaborations with the radio, and his trust made me responsible. After that, other important personalities of our guild offered me, as well as other colleagues, the opportunity to do more, and every time probably each of us sought to put their soul into the dialogues with those who follow us. So, for the loyalty and patience of our listeners, even now, I send warm thanks! Making a radio show requires teamwork and I want to thank everyone with whom I have had the privilege of working over time, with a lot of kindness and respect from them and, definitely, with appreciation from me too.

I imagine you've had some unforgettable experiences during all these years. Could you tell us one of them?

There were many extraordinary moments related, perhaps primarily, to the interviews I had the opportunity to conduct, theattendance of certain concerts that were completely out of the ordinary. Right now, I remember how I ran down the Băneasa airport runway to catch maestro Zubin Mehta getting off the plane in 1995 when he came to the Enescu Festival, for example.

In your opinion, what is the mission of our radio station, considering that it is the only radio station in Romania that broadcasts classical music?

Unfortunately, in the current context, I have the feeling that the purpose of the Radio România Muzical radio station is to educate more than to just delight the public, because classical music, as we can see, needs this sort of advertising and to be brought to the attention of the listeners, considering that the schools, lately, unfortunately do far too little in this regard.
