Tonight, Sala Radio will be reopening its doors for a new music season. Orchestra Națională Radio will be conducted by John Axelrod and as for the soloist, you'll be able to listen to Roman Borisov. We are going to find more about the event from the young Russian pianist himself, in a dialogue with Ioana Țintea.

Friday, October 13th, you'll be performing "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Op. 43" in the opening concert for the new season at Sala Radio, and all this during the International Rachmaninoff Competition. Why did you decide on this particular work and what place does Rachmaninoff take in your personal preferences?

Rachmaninoff takes a very important place in my repertoire and generally in my life. I feel naturally bond by this composer and I like it very much. I performed many of his piano opera and I am still assimilating and learning as much as I can. I like to listen to him! So, yes, Rachmaninoff has a very special place in my life.

What kind of thoughts are you expecting upon meeting the Romanian audience?

As always, I'm excited for I love to perfom!

You'll be collaborating with conductor John Axelrod. How did your first rehearsal go and what kind of advice did you receive from the American conductor?

This is not our first meeting. We've performed together this year in June and we know each other well. The rehearsals are going fine, intense and consistent.

How would you describe youself as an artist and what determined you to pursue a musical career?

I started creating music at the age of 3, and when I became more conscient of what I was doing (at 10 years old) I've never once thought of why I was doing music... it was something that came naturally to me, into my life.

Do you want to be an inspiration for the young artists that wish to pursuea musical career playing the piano?

I can't say that I have ever thought about wanting to be an inspiration for someone that wants to learn play the piano, or for the ones who study it. I only think about what I am going to do, at my own performings, but if this thing inspires others too, then I'm happy. We are all unique, music is diverse and the way in which you approach it, is as well. So, I've never thought about wanting to inspire other artists, but I like what I do and here we are.
